Julian Worskett BSc (Hons), CEng, MIET, has been involved in RF design and Microwave Engineering for over 30 years. I have a wealth of theoretical and practical experience and am proud to be a "hands on" engineer. I have been interested in RF since the age of 10 when I built my first VHF FM bug from a kit supplied by Josty.
I work in a dedicated and secure office/laboratory in my 16th century house and as such, the Company has virtually no overheads. The laboratory has stock of many RF and electronic components so that prototypes and RF designs can be produced very quickly and made at low cost. The lab is equipped with modern test equipment, basic mechanical engineering and outdoor antenna test facilities. PCBs are designed in-house and simple boards can be photoetched within an hour.
I spend my time extremely efficiently and can work long days if there is urgent work to be carried out.
Control software is run on Microchip PICs, allowing control of digital ICs, LCD displays and human interface devices. LABVIEW is being considered as a standard GUI at the present time to run as a Windows application.
I also provide consultancy service for clients who have no in-house RF experience wishing to incorporate wireless into their products. Most work is carried out at my office under fixed price contracts.
I carry out TV and radio surveys for developers and Wind Farm companies, advising on radio propagation issues. I have also attended court several times as an expert witness in radio communications cases (offender tagging).
